About Me

My paternal family left China four generations ago, weighed down with their gold and belongings,to flee from the Communists sweeping accross their land. Sheer courage, determination, and blessed by the Gods, they bid goodbye to family members and friends who wanted to make San Fransisco their home, and sailed on to Tahiti and her islands to make their home there. It took three generations and a lot of grit for my father to break from the tradition of arranged betrothals to take a Tahitian girl for wife. I was born of that chaotic union, and grew amid flowering vanilla vines on green papaya scented plantation fare, tumbling happily down a sloppy papaya grove, pummeling the soft red earth with my bare skin, the ever soft reassuring clinking of the teapot in my hands inducing a slight pause and a pleased smile from my working parents.
